"Going Out" March 2023

This is a very special painting for many reasons. First, this is the largest painting I have done to date and the first oil painting I have done in almost five years! Second and most important, this painting was done as a commission for my sister-in-law for her first child and my first nephew! I am so honored to have been asked to create something that will be displayed in the nursery. (I also was asked to make a small series of watercolor paintings for the nursery as well. I will be writing a post on this later!). At the bottom I also have listed and linked the materials I used for this piece!

This was a big challenge for me. While I have taken art classes before, I have never had any instruction for oil painting. This made me nervous to start such a large project, but I was determined to finish it before my nephew arrived! And I did, with days to spare!

Below are the process photos of the painting. There isn't much else to say on this one other than how blessed I am to be able to make things like this for the people I love, and how much love I have for my new nephew and his parents. Enjoy!

*I may make a small commission if you make a purchase through one of these links. This helps me to be able to continue doing what I love. As always, I only link products that I truly use and recommend.

The canvas I've had lying around, but I think I got it from Michael's Arts & Crafts Store, colors list is complete to the best of my knowledge, I'm terrible at keeping notes on colors!
